This is a miserable rant about something unworthy of miserable ranting. (there are so many things to rant miserably at, like feeling like you found a nice touch of phrase that “miserable rant-i-ness” evokes) Anyway, its more about listening to music that you were supposed to like when you were a teenager (which is now getting more than twenty years ago, fuck!?!?! 20 YEARS!)
I have been stuck on listening to the music from 1981-1991. I can’t seem to shake it. I listen to something less past the sell by date like ‘Cut Copy’ (already five years old) and I find myself going back to ‘New Order’ I listen to something from the last two years like Lil Wayne and all I think of is going back and listening to 2LiveCrew just for shits and giggles.
I just can’t shake it. Am I going to be stuck in a cultural musical molasses? I think it is very likely I will… which is fine but I just want to get it down on paper to say… yes I am doomed to the past and I am ok with it.
Included is a list of albums I’ve been listening to… the most recent release date? The Strokes, 2001 – everything else is old. My god!
