Hot take on Ferguson.

The specifics are not important, or whether this particular case was handled accurately. The larger problem in the United States is the PERCEPTION, real or unreal, that there are separate sets of laws for the poor or of a racial minority, than for those of wealth and privilege.   The narrative is: Cops can kill blacks, and bankers can get off scot-free for destroying economy. Whether the law is followed accurately or not, whether the law is applied evenly or not.   The perception of injustice is more important then whatever is actually happening.

We live in a world of INJUSTICE. Fairness is not being levied and technicalities and legalese are not vital.

A boy is dead, and a man is walking free. Should the officer go to jail? Probably not, but he should go to trial and the sense of fairness should be instilled.
