Post-altMBA dip: NOW the work starts

The shine is gone. The glow has dimmed. The fire cooling. The real work begins. After the altMBA ended I was so excited. I had so much energy. I started this blog going again. I live streamed some football content that I always wanted  to… I had momentum…

A funny thing happened… the slack channel for my altMBA group got quieter and quieter… the cheering on get less and less frequent and the realization that there is no magic bullet has set in… This is the moment that was described in the altMBA as “The Dip“. When the energy lowers, when the excitement wains and the work begins. When you don’t want to write a post. When you don’t want to share it. When you don’t want to send that email. When you just want to go on Facebook or Twitter and read endless hot takes on the latest sports news or madness of our government.

It’s easy to give up. It’s natural. We humans are designed with laziness as a feature. It’s part of our DNA. We’re supposed to trying to save energy for long winters and scarce food…. As predators, like big cats, we need to rest and turn it down. Happens in everything. But I have plenty of food, have plenty of rest and don’t need to persistance hunt a wounded gazelle…

I’m writing this out to say I SEE YOU DIP! I KNOW YOU ARE THERE! AND I AM NOT GOING TO LISTEN TO YOU

Laurent,

I am glad I read your post this morning, as I am now racked with guilt from my recent lack of effort. After just a few weeks since the end of the altMBA, I have noticed that I am falling back into some of my predetermined patterns of behavior of resistance. Now that I have returned from my week summer vacation and Game of Thrones has ended, I have no more excuses to flail around in the Dip.

Cheers!
