Portrait of Maurice Quentin de La Tour (1704-1788) who was a French Rococo portraitist who worked primarily with pastels. John Kay was a Scottish caricaturist and engraver. His portraits were collected by Hugh Paton and published under the title ‘A series of original portraits and caricature etchings by the late John Kay, with biographical sketches and illustrative anecdotes’, Edinburgh, 1838.
