I am a huge Twitter user. It’s the primary thing I go to when I have a second. Standing online, taking a shit, spacing out watching TV – I’m on my twitter feed. I’ve been on Twitter since 2007 and have got tremendous amount of value from it. I don’t really talk to many people on it, but I do consume a lot of news via Twitter. I’ve got about 1,000 accounts I follow… people I know, news sites, sports reporters and sports teams, some celebrities and I just consume the whole stream. I love it so much.
I find out so much about so many different things on Twitter. People share articles they are reading, ideas they might have and just silly stupid shit now and then.
Twitter is a funny place because people don’t get it. It’s a funny place because it’s different for different people. It has lots of sub-cultures in it. There is sports twitter, black twitter, people who talk television shows live on twitter, and it’s a source of news. It’s what you want it to be. But it can be dangerous. It’s addictive. There is always new news. Especially if you have a lot of accounts you follow… there is just never ending amount of things to read and the dopamine bash of new information can be highly addictive… just think if your Facebook feed had 50 times more people.
Of course, our schnook President has chosen twitter as his preferred medium of communication. It’s his bully pulpit and he’s using it to set the agenda and pick fights. Twitter is a trolls heavy and our troll-in-chief is just one of many trolls enjoying the openness of Twitter. It’s odd that he’s chosen Twitter as his medium, and I wonder if it’s helping or hurting Twitter? Very strange.
Anyway, if you don’t use Twitter, let me know I’d be happy to get into a bigger conversation about it.
