In the aftermath of the Trump election, there is a lot of finger pointing. There is also much hand-wringing and general lamenting about what went right or wrong.
The thing I’d like to focus on is something my friend said on Facebook:
DEMOCRATS-THIS CAN ONLY WORK WITH A WHITE MAN AT THE TOP OF THE TICKET! KEEP THAT IN MIND 4 YEARS FROM NOW!
The post generated a lot of discussion that I appreciate and love. I love reading other opinions from different perspectives. In my reading of comments, I noticed on thing was missing.
There is one other way for change that is not being discussed. And I am not being funny – the threat of violence or the power of the mob.
What gets things changed in this country? Riots. Fires and Armed marches.
If you try and change the framework with the “white privileged” system, you’ll end up with a “white privileged” result. If systemic racism exists everywhere and it can never be undone, you must harness the mob to change EVERYTHING.
Civil Rights got done under LBJ because King marched. He made sure the television was there. King would get the southern sheriffs (Bull Conner) to behave the way he knew they would.
The Rodney King Riots changed the police in Los Angeles.
The George Floyd Riots changed how police behaved across the country.
The Black Panthers changed gun control in the USA by occupying Sacramento ARMED.
If you want the government to change, you have to show force.
I am not saying I want this, or think it’s good, it’s just the reality.
Machiavelli knew this. Nietzsche knew this. Lenin knew this.
and it doesn’t have to overthrow the government.
It means you have to be prepared to bleed AS GROUP.
It also could backfire. It requires leadership and an understanding that the whole apparatus of state will go against you. But there are precedents for it. I think if Sinn Fein in Ireland, or IZL in Palestine.
I am not going to sign up. Or advocate for it, but its not being discussed…
